Health &Wellbeing

Supporting the health and wellbeing of the students across the schools is always on-going and is vital.

Our support has ranged from the funding of medicines and malaria testing kits, to the construction of a medical centre and salary of a full time resident nurse.

We are passionate about doing all we can to ensure that the pupils and staff are well cared for and that illnesses such as malaria are identified and treated early.

  • Bugweri District is swampy and malaria is every present but with simple testing kits and medication the School Nurse can treat quickly.

  • Working under the supervision of a local doctor, RedEarth funds a full-time residential nurse who is at school 24/7 during term time.

  • We funded the construction of large shower block, washrooms and solar water pump + storage. Hostel pupils can easily wash their clothes and bedding.

  • By donating sewing machines and funding a sewing teacher the pupils are able to make their own washable sanitary pads as well as learning how to sew in a dedicated Sewing/Craft Room

  • Liz’s Place, named after one of our volunteers, is a four bed medical centre with consulting room, WC/bathroom and nurse accommodation

  • Th School Nurse and Matrons ensure the girls brush their teeth properly.
